About the film

This is a story about dreams that come true and dreams that can kill. Absent and unknown fathers. Boys who run away from a nightmare of their childhood and become fathers themselves. The film shows different aspects of growing into the most important roles in life.

FATHER0 is a fiction film made in 2015 in which young boys from ArtCrew in Special Educational Centre in Trzebież play for the first time. The film is an effect of mutual narrative work of members of the group with Konrad Pachciarek, an author of the script and also a director, who listened to the stories shared by the boys during a lot of discussions and meeting and then put them together to create a film plot, trying to present a character of their life in the institution they are in, difficult relationships with peers and families as well as their specific language as accurately as possible.

This is a film about different relationships between young boys and their fathers
– absent, unknown.
They try to face the problem,
some of them try to grow into their role to be a father themselves, a role they are not prepared to take at all.
What will the future bring?

The online premiere will take place on Father’s Day – 23rd June 2017.

ArtCrew group was set up in 2008 in Youth Special Educational Centre in Trzebież close to Szczecin. The founders are Marcin Głuszyk, a teacher and a tutor in Special Youth Educational Centre in Trzebież and Konrad Pachciarek, a theatre director. Currently, the group is also being led by animators and some of them are former members of ArtCrew.

During systematic classes members of the group develop their artistic skills and talents and prepare various artistic presentations of narrative character. It is a specific attempt to tell others about some parts of the reality in which they live as well as about their experiences, emotions and way of perceiving themselves.

ArtCrew has prepared and organized several performances so far – theatre plays and outdoor performances, concerts and video clips. Every year the group also prepares and performs concerts of carols during Chistmas time. ArtCrew actively takes part in Przetwornik – National Festival of Youth Creativity for youth from special educational centres and youth sociotherapeutic centres.

FATHER0 is the first fiction film with the participation of the group.

Music

The soundtrack from the film was created by LUXTORPEDA.

The band supported making our film in many aspects. Apart from giving us the soundtrack, musicians also played in the film and gave an exclusive concert for youth attending National Festival of Youth Creativity PRZETWORNIK for youth from special educational centres and youth sociotherapeutic centres. Some of the scenes from FATHER0 were filmed then.

During working on the film, the band filmed the clip to their song ‘Absent stranger’.

Later, in August 2015 the young artists were invited by the leader of the band to their recording studio so that they could record their debut song ‘The second me’, also created during making the film. Currently, the boys from ArtCrew are working on the material to their debut album.
